Actually, the big display prices *must* come down soon, because regular 32" tv can be bought for 500 euros nowadays. A display which has HDMI input, which means it can be connected to a DVI computer card rather easily.

Now I don't mean to say that a regular 32" TV that costs 500 would compete with a 30" ACD in terms of colour accuracy or top resolution, but I'm saying if someone wants a big display it can be done for peanuts. And as people discover this they're not going to buy "overpriced" computer displays that are meant for one purpose only.

[QUOTE=farmermac;11148898]I'd back up your music off your iphone ASAP./QUOTE]

    Agreed.

I found both Senuti and Tansee iPhone Transfer. Can anyone confirm whether this is the best option for me? Lifehacker article describing how to do this is 2+ years old:

I was sleeping, as I had been working the night shift.
My wife phoned to ask me if something major had happened as no-one where she worked could get on to any news websites.
I turned on BBC 24 and said "Holy ****** the World Trade Centre's on fire"
As I sat down I saw the second plane hit.
    I couldn't speak for about 10 minutes

I have about 24 hours of BBC news coverage on tape, but I can't watch it.

I don't see what kind of order the nanos are in. Some one fill me in.

I mean the reason we buy this huge monitors is to shrink the UI and maximize free space right???

I'm going to be overly picky on this one and it may have already been said but...

-You buy a larger monitor so that things shrink LESS at higher resolutions.

-You buy a monitor with a higher resolution so that you can fit more UI in there regardless of the size of the monitor.

If I remember from some knews a while back, isn't there some kind of slider to decide the scaling?

I dunno. I tried to add something to the wiki and it didn't work right so I got scared and deleted what I added. I'm just gonna stick to editing wikis and not starting new topics.

Hey.... someone put up a page titled "Arport Extreme" and I moved it to "Airport Extreme." Looks like it automatically redirects. So we could do the same thing with "The Dock" and "The Trash," no?

EDIT: Okay, fixed "Dock", "Trash", and all the pages linking to them.

How are the current displays old tech? I think you are confusing 'old tech' with 'original release date a long time ago but silent incremental updates since'.

The currents ACDs use the LG.Philips S-IPS panel. In other words 'about the best of new tech' as opposed to 'old tech'. I challenge you to find a 23"/24" display that uses a comparable panel for under $1000 . The newer tech is the H-IPS panel which is the monitor that you'll find in your iMac that has 'serious colour gradient problems' (send it back, it's a dud). About the only monitor you'll find with the H-IPS is the NEC 24" that comes in at around $1100 .

Glossy displays are not for pros so they will only be an option on the ACD's. Glossy displays are better than matte ones in the same way that a lollipop is tastier than a truffle.

The only update I can see happening soon would be to use the latest H-IPS panel with more inputs but Apple won't do that if it's not available for the 30" as well (is it anyone?).

Apple's competition with the highend 23/24" monitors is the NEC. Since the Apple is $200- $300 cheaper and there is no/few other comparable displays(s) in the price range I'd consider it a bargain at the moment unless you have other issues such as inputs.

If Apple release new ACDs I suspect the 23/24" will be more expensive, but you'll have a chance to get the present ACD for a bargain. Other than that I think the 23" ACD is a safe buy.

Yep -- You got this right.

Hi, i would like to know if anyone here successfully got windows 98 running under bootcamp. I must run some old software for research purposes so any help would be appreciated!

    I own a late 2009 macbook.

    Thanks

I know in 7 that you can select properties for that program and tell it to run as what system you want. Have you tried that?

So the Verizon deal really didn't help them with the iPhone and Apple lost again more marketshare in the smartphone market. Not good especially as Google now ships almost 40 million Android phones per quarter. Maybe a cheap iPhone nano might help Apple to get back into a competing position.

i guess i am the only one that finds this a bit wierd. and rubs me the wrong way. so somewhere in googles databases my life is recorded on where and when i was there? i bet the government would love to get a handle on that.
    :(

Yep, I'm with you on that. It already bugs me that my Prius has a black box for accidents and a GPS built in (for the nav system.) Why do we *trust* this government to not ask companies to turn that information over (just like they asked for our phone records) and for these corporations getting billions in tax incentives to eagerly comply? Now if you carry a GPS, government will be able to know where you are at any moment. I'm not buying it unless Apple includes a pledge with the product that they will fight to protect my legal rights if any government agency asks for these records without probable cause.

It's good - if a bit creepy. Haha.

However, I feel the composition could be improved in my opinion. Try placing the masque along one of the rule-of-thirds cross sections. And, this might not be your taste, but I prefer a more creamy bokeh. I feel this one is a little harsh and makes me wonder if I forgot to put my contacts in.

But overall very creative and interesting. Good job.

I want to get a medieval/fantasy game that's rated T and that's Under 60 dollars. -.- I got MW2 but It just doesn't do it for me. I'm a Rpg fan, and I don't want an M rated game, since my Parents are so gay about that. So Rated T - E. Anyone got any ideas?

Ps. Not soul calibur 4, already got that :P

I paid for and downloaded the .WAV-Version. I was kind of annoyed though that they don't offer a version in some lossless codec like ALAC or FLAC that has tagging capabilities. You shouldn't have to enter basic metadata yourself...

People are even arguing over (http://www.last.fm/music/Radiohead/_/Morning+Mr+Magpie/+shoutbox) whether it's supposed to say Mr Magpie or Mr. Magpie.

If they are charging more for the WAV, it better be 24bit resolution.

    It's not.
