Shipping date on the 1.83Ghz White MB is 5-7 days. On the rest of the MBs it's 3-5.
All other comps are 24hr, apart from the iMacs which are 1-2.
Has it been like this for a while already? Is this because of shortages, or is it a sign?

Yes it is a deal breaker. I actually spend quite a bit of time in bed after lights out surfing and reading, keeping up with stuff (I am doing it at this moment) with the brightness at the lowest level +1 to not disturb my wife, and its definitely not enough to see the keyboard.

If it is absolutely deal breaker for you then you might look at Glowing fluorescent keyboard stickers (http://www.amazon.com/Glowing-fluorescent-English-keyboard-stickers/dp/B004CEN1VU) ...
I'd think it's not nearly as good as Apple's backlight (and you can't ramp it up, or turn it off :eek:)

9.99? you can rent movies from Mlink or Cinemanow for 4.99 or DVR's from 3.99. Just stupid if we dont keep to buy and keep the movie for that price.

Call me spoiled by all things thin, I think the iMac is looking pretty chunky these days. Not sure why it isn't significantly thinner than it is. The next time they do update the form factor it should essentially look like a giant first gen iPad.

If they had already been forewarned and did it anyway, then yes, a company would have probably been kicked out (especially if they continued after a second warning).
Have you ever been to a tech convention? It is *not* a free-for-all where people roam around handing out fliers anywhere on the convention floor. Vendors are expected to stick to their designated booth that they paid for. Conventions make money by charging for floorspace. What kind of leverage would they have to charge for premium or larger floorspace, if vendors could just get the smallest booth possible, but then flood the convention floor with people handing out brochures? Even though Greenpeace is not a vendor and probably received their booth space pro-bono, they should still stick to the convention floor rules.

'07? They've been planning for for years is seems like and '07 is the best they can do? I figure the biggest issues are dealing with the US telcos. They want the UI to look like they dictate. They want to charge for music download/transfer to the phone. Apple has not succeeded in getting movies studios to back iTV and iTunes. They may not have luck with telcos either.
Seems like all the good products are being delayed or havent happened. iTV, 07, iPhone 07, new video ipod... missing.

Thunderbolt is DisplayPort 1.1a - DisplayPort 1.2 has daisy chain and much more bandwidth than a TB channel.I recall this being a complaint about Thunderbolt.

You're assuming that the resolution (and thus bitrate) will remain the same. I hope this isn't the case since 320x240 is fine for TV, but for movies I'd like at least 720x480 (DVD quality) or 1280x720 (720p) which means 4-9x as many bits.
You get some advantage from the codec, so a 4x file can only be 2x as big, but pretty soon you're talking about gigs of data.

It took my Black MB about 70 mins to download "Deuce Bigalow". This was over a decent but not great motel WiFi setup, and I was downloading some other stuff for about half the time.
You were downloading Deuce Bigelow in 1080p, or in 640x480 from iTMS?
Sounds more like 640x480. So by extrapolation 1080p which has 6.75 as many pixels would be somewhere like 2.5-6 times as long to download. i.e. it could take up to 7 hours to download.

I think we'll see the New C2D MacBook's appear on the Apple.com homepage on the 19th, and the following Monday at the event, Apple will announce the New MacBook Pro's with the MacBook style keyboard, and the magnetic latch. As the MacBook Pro is wider, it will get very light magnets at either end of the displays too, to hold it neatly shut.
We'll also be introduced to the new Cinema Displays. I think they'll be lighter and thinner with built-in iSights and IR sensors, and optionally the Apple remote. Steve will also add that there is one more thing. A thing that was the most requested feature for the next Gen Cinema Displays, and that will be iMac-esque hidden speakers.
Size? We'll see 20", 24" and 32".

I'm surprised at all the Cingular hate here. At least in the D.C. area, the word is that they have the best coverage available - better than Verizon, who was the previous benchmark before the merger.
Me too. I have Cingular and it works great. I mostly hear complaining from people who live outside of big metropolitan cities though, so maybe that's where all these people are from?
Well, I checked Cingular's map (http://onlinestorez.cingular.com/cell-phone-service/maps/pop_mapfinder.jsp?mapt=nationalMap) and they seem to have fine coverage. Maybe everyone lives in Alaska. :p

it is very easy to aim the gun for the chest and hit the head. For most people, that's a less than 5% change in gun angle, which for most pistols is less than 1/2" up. That is, he was aiming for the chest, and let the tip of his barrel rise less than 1/2" higher than it should go.
Which is completely reasonable if the rise was due to recoil and he didn't lower the barrel before pulling the trigger again. Another reason why gangbangers that hold the gun sideways are idiots--recoil is gonna take you off center-line and you'll start shooting arms instead of heads. :D
